나에게(Dear Self): Letting Go of Values

나에게,

We all have our own set of values and standards that we hold ourselves to.

They are principles you believe in, a point of view that you have high opinions of, your standards of how you live your life, and internalized ideologies that influence your judgment of what is important in life

But what happens when you break your own standard? What happens when you do something you judged people for in the past and swear you would never do? What does this say about your character?

My love, it’s just proof that you are human. You are allowed to let go of assumptions and beliefs that you once held so dear to your heart. You are allowed to make mistakes. To acknowledge what you did was wrong. To have more empathy for those who you used to judge for the choices they made.

You have to sit in that uncomfortable place of ego death and process/challenge your values. It’s okay to change, amend, adapt, and/or update a value. This is why life is so beautifully complex. There is no such thing as right and wrong. Just a big spectrum of rainbow colors in the middle.

Sincerely,

Me
